After moving to the town of Pryor Creek, 17-year-old Zoey Parker befriends her new neighbor, Ezma Weston. Over time, Zoey observes strange and sometimes unsettling behavior from her new friend. Warned by a fellow classmate named Rachel, to stay away from Ezma, Zoey discovers a dark history between the two girls. When she finds they're telling conflicting stories, Zoey must decide who's lying. After residents begin turning up dead, Zoey and Ezma are both named suspects, though Ezma adamantly denies any involvement. As tensions begin to rise throughout the town, Zoey and Ezma are made the targets of escalating violence. In fear for her life, Zoey is left to wonder if befriending Ezma was a mistake.
About the Author
Lilith A. Bennett developed a love of reading and writing even before she went to school. At the age of 6, she was reading novels and writing the first of many stories that would take shape throughout her life. She credits her late grandmother, Annaburt, with instilling her love of the written word. The two of them often read the same books together, right up until Annaburt's death. Although she's been writing most of her life, Bennett didn't make a serious effort to become an author until 2009, finishing her first novel three years later at the age of 22. Ashen Plains is her debut novel. Bennett plans to continue writing novels for many years to come."
