After twenty years in the Navy, Chief Petty Officer Sam—known simply as Seabee—sets out with only a seabag, a secondhand truck, and a new companion: a shelter dog he calls Dog. Together, they chase freedom across America’s highways and small towns.

 What begins as a road trip soon leads to unexpected friendships, hard farm work, and the kind of battles no uniform can prepare you for. About the Author

Captain Q.E.D. “Tex” Lewis enjoyed a 30-year career in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps. He served in the 30th Naval Construction Regiment in Vietnam. Other tours with the Seabees included four Command tours. He also endured tours with the United States Marine Corps and outings with the Army Special Forces.
