Trust Me, Trustee!

A True Story about a Truly Remarkable Woman

She not only took care of her aging mother but has been faced with challenging family affairs, trusts, Alzheimer's Disease, lawsuits, and the Lord's Grace. 

Human relationships are the most difficult inclusions in our lives. I call them inclusions because from birth we have to have them or we die. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents all can either cause us joy or grief. If we focus on human beings for our worth, appreciation, love, purpose, and all other quests to fulfill life as it continues along, we will undoubtedly uncover loss, pain, and hurt.

This isn't God’s plan, however, that we experience negativity through relationships. He wants, instead, for us to see and hear Him all about us every day; He wants to be our “audience of One.” He wants to be our all. When we get ready to leave this place we mistakenly call “home,” we will step into the real world where relationships will flourish because they are not tainted with sin. Until that time, He asks us to trust Him.

Perhaps before eternity reveals itself to me, I can reach out to my siblings. At present, they feel no remorse or need to be forgiven, so I will continue to ask God, the One who reveals Himself every day to soften their hearts and save them. Being in the mental state Mom had been in might have given her the ability to forget hurts or maybe not. I can’t forget yet. I want to, but I can’t.

If, by any chance, you experience a loved one with Alzheimer’s, are appointed as trustee, and are sued in the end, I pray that in some way my story will encourage you to look, as I am still looking, at His pres- ence in all the gifts He gives so freely every day.

About the Author

Linda Lassiter, a baby boomer,  born in Marysville, California is the mother of five, grandmother of nineteen, and great grandmother of one.  She holds a Master's in Humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills and currently teaches Humanities in Western Civilization for Liberty University Online and for fifteen years taught English at the Community College level.   

She has been teaching in various capacities and her passion is writing.
